Indulge in a weekend of wine tasting in Australia's original wine country.
As Australia’s oldest commercial wine-producing region, the Hunter Valley has plenty of history behind it. In fact, the oldest vineyards in the region were planted in the 1860s. It’s also relatively close to Sydney – only two hours’ drive – making this a popular weekend destination for Sydneysiders. A few days spent in the wine country is delightfully decadent, and wine tastings are as much about sampling chocolates, olives and locally made cheese as shiraz, semillon and chardonnay. Tours take in several vineyards in a day, with the option to book activities from horseback riding to hot-air ballooning.
